The Institute for Informatics, Biostatistics, and Data Science offers both the Master of Science in Biostatistics (MSIBS), Master of Science in Biostatistics and Data Science (MSBDS), and Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics (BMI) degree programs that are designed to train students as critical thinkers and analysts in biostatistics, informatics, and data science.
The MSIBS, MSBDS, and BMI internships provide students with crucial professional experience, preparing them for future careers. Participants will join research teams and contribute to various activities, such as:
-Biostatistics: Designing and conducting statistical analyses for clinical trials and observational studies, developing and applying biomathematical models, and performing survival analysis and regression modeling.
-Data Science: Cleaning, processing, and managing large datasets, developing machine learning algorithms, creating data visualizations and dashboards, and implementing predictive analytics.
-Biomedical Informatics: Creating or optimizing electronic health records (EHR) systems, implementing clinical decision support systems (CDSS), engaging in bioinformatics projects, and developing informatics solutions and tools.
MSIBS, MSBDS, and BMI students can choose to:
- Intern for 150 hours per semester (Summer 2024 and Fall 2025) with dates ranging from June 2 – December 6
