Thomas Kannampallil, PhD, FAMIA, and Laura Wiley, PhD, FAMIA, have been named among 24 new Fellows to be inducted into the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) on Nov. 16, at a ceremonial dinner during the 2025 American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Annual Symposium. Drs. Kannampallil and Wiley have fulfilled the criteria for notable and ongoing contributions to the field of medical informatics and have successfully undergone thorough academic evaluation by their colleagues. This accomplishment does not go unnoticed.
“It’s a privilege to be named an ACMI Fellow,” said Kannampallil. “This acknowledgment is a reflection of our collective efforts, and I’m excited to be part of such a distinguished group of professionals in medical informatics.”
“Becoming an ACMI Fellow is a significant career milestone, and I’m incredibly grateful for the recognition of my contributions to informatics,” said Wiley. “I have had the great fortune of working with an incredible team of data scientists whose hard work enabled this achievement. I also want to acknowledge the many mentors, colleagues, and friends who have been endlessly generous with their time, advice, and support over my career. I’m thrilled to join so many other WashU Medicine faculty members who are part of this prestigious community, and I’m proud to stand alongside some of the top informaticians in the country and the world.”
Once inducted, ACMI Fellows are eligible to use the Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (FACMI) designation, a significant honor and true reflection of their hard work and dedication. As an institution, we are thrilled to congratulate Drs. Kannampallil and Wiley. Read the full press release posted by AMIA.
