Philip R.O. Payne, PhD, FACMI, FAMIA, FAIMBE, FIAHSI, Chief Health AI Officer at WashU Medicine and BJC Health System, participated in a panel on “The AI-Powered Evolution of Health Care and Training” at the National Academy of Medicine’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 20.
Dr. Payne discussed AI’s transformative potential in health care, emphasizing the need to overcome challenges such as data availability, bias, and system integration. He highlighted the critical necessity of developing an AI-ready workforce to effectively implement these technologies in medical practice.
The panel also delved into ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks essential for the successful integration of AI into health care systems, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts across academia, industry, and government.
